fuck those bitch ass yankees when he said yanks bought there team he means wat do u expect from the richest team in all sports shyt all that money 27 championchips they should have more for all the money they spend on building their team

Got a small, one topping pizza from them today. $13, which I think is a lot for a 12 inch pizza on South Street. It was pretty good. Can't say I would be motivated to buy another. For some reason, instead of cutting it into regular slices, they cut it into thirds in one direction and in half the other, make six squarish pieces.

Delicious baked goods, but SLOW and horrible service. Most people who work there seem confused and there is no coordination between workers. At peak times, I have waited nearly a half hour for a simple crepe in the small, crowded space, watching the food prep workers trip over each other behind the counter.

That said, the coffee is the BEST I have had in Philadelphia. However, I do not order anything except the delicious, portable baked goods which need no heating or preparation anymore. Otherwise, it's too frustrating. By the way, the greens I had were twice wilting and slimy.

Please, not another sob story about someone in prison who 'Made a mistake'. Why not do a tale about a soldier in Iraq? No problem gettin' him to call in... could even use video. How 'bout a fireman who saved someone, life guard, policeman, citizen? I haven't seen the story hence I am speaking from ignorance. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it. This is probably jus' one of thousands of these stories that have been done. More young journalists who were too late for the Sixties and wanna emulate the stories they were told by their liberal professors. Sorry gang, this ol' man has no interest in murderers. Fry Mumia by the way!

If I bagged all the leaves that my trees produce (and those my neighbor's trees send our way), it would be hard to estimate how many bags that would be. Hundreds, I expect. I generally dispose of two long (densely packed) piles, about 60 feet long, each year. Not having mechanical collection would add more time and effort than I can imagine. It's already a daunting task! Thanks, council, for voting to restore this service.

I agree with David G as well. But as to Emynona's comment - by boycotting SEPTA, we don't show the strikers anything. All we do is hurt SEPTA more, which gives the TWU more incentive to strike next time, as they'll have more leverage with SEPTA. Unfortunately, the workers have very little vested in how healthy SEPTA is, so they could care less if there is a boycott. They just want to milk the cow dry. The real question to ask is, what can we do to send a message to the TWU?

Agree. I AM eating that hot dog bun this weekend.

Yumumummm. I love hot dogs in baked goods--I will always choose that if it is an option. And it's open late at night? Amazing.

Krystal Weaver is a young talented pastry chef. She would be a great pic since she has competition experience from the culinary olympics. She is a fierce competitor.

i like this movie

The more I read it, the more it impresses me. I don’t know how I ever worked without hilarious and funny things in our life, Life would be so much easier especially when there's a jokes here and there. Being funny is nice because a lot of serious people are lacking with this kind of behavior that is why they are much look older. I would like to thank you for your outstanding blog post. Keep it up! Awesome!

Boycott. And we should also make demands. No fare increases and Willie Brown should have to step down as union leader. This happens to us every 4-5 years people don't forget? 2005 7 days and back in 1998 40 days in a heat wave!!!! Don't treat this as in isolated incident!

Hello, and thanks for the comments. I just wanted to clarify, in light of the previous response: this article is relevant only to so-called "mechanical collection" of leaves -- not the disposal of leaves collected by residents.

If you rake up your leaves, bag them, and leave them by the curb, the city will still pick them up. The resolution mentioned above has to do with a special service wherein the city actually collected the leaves itself.

Hope that helps clarify the discussion.

Jb, it's not about raking, it's about disposal. I can rake 8 bags every weekend for 3 months if I want to where I live in the northeast. Should I put that out for standard garbage or recycling each week? Isn't it better if something specific can come around, collect the leaves from a raked pile in front of each house vaccuum style and put them to a better purpose, like compost for other city projects as opposed to just adding size to the landfills in bags.

Readers of Mr. Kirk's article on BODY WORLDS should note that that there is in fact, a very clear paper trail from deceased donor to each specimen shown in BODY WORLDS. The Institute for Plastination has made as much donor information as possible available to museum lawyers and bio-ethicists, without violating the code of medical confidentiality. However, the Institute for Plastination will not violate the principals of medical confidentiality to satisfy the curiosity of a reporter, as was the case with the NPR story Mr. Kirk sites. Readers should also know that Mr. Kirk declined any comment from the Institute for Plastination when we learned of his possible story on the body donation program. With more than 10,000 body donors, the Institute for Plastination certainly does not need to reach out to "hide black market remains".

I agree with David G, the worst that would happen with that idea, is for those cashiers and drivers to lose their jobs altogether. What I suggest is a real boycott! Even after the strike ends, let's not ride with Septa for a few days, that'll show them. We can't continue to be manipulated by and dependent on a system that has no consideration for its riders!

I like it. I imagine it would be hard to implement though.

Typical city council bullshit. Raking leaves isn't that hard you rich assholes!

Thoughts besides it being insanely illegal, grounds for termination, and an all in all terrible idea?

Right. Work for free. That from the good natured folks who are threatening to shut the Regional Rail lines Friday morning.

I suspect the letter writer's idea is that the "strike" would entail the workers not collecting a paycheck (as they're not collecting one now, either) in addition to not collecting fares.

I drove by the other day and thru my tinted windows, I could see that Perez traded his Bentley for a older model land rover. How sweet it is that someone who played people like this is spiraling down. Next step Bernie Maddofs neighbor.

Wealthier people are more likely to live on property with trees, so their disproportionate share of service is understandable. But backing up a step and wondering why the councilmen want to spend $400K on leaves in the first place, and in the middle of a budget crisis no less, needs an answer.

Contact your city council rep:

Yeah - this is top chef -- I'd love to see the vegan treats girl handle the bacon challenge. Or for that matter a simple angel food cake. she'll be off in the first episode.

Krystal Weaver is phenomenal new talent. Her desserts and knowledge of the pastry industry are excellent!

That would require the Septa drivers to work which we all know they are very much adverse to doing.

What? And have the union workers, who are striking, collect a paycheck while they strike?

Or are you suggesting the union workers would work for free during their strike?

Well, the man beaten needlessly and sadistically was acquitted of all charges not too many weeks ago. Has PPD Internal Affairs looked into the incident and spoken to any of those above who witnessed what happened? Wonder what they made of it all? Ever wonder how many other people get beaten this way here in Philadelphia when the police respond?

I saw P-Star Rising at the festival, amazing documentary and a really good story. I'm definitely going to see it again, so exited to see P-Star perform at the Piazza after the movie!

I personally love it. It's a nice alternative to #SeptaBoycott. Tried to make that tag work all morning...

I don't cuss I present myself as a respectable young lady I'm 18 and i'm in high school my senior year but I think SEPTA is being real fucking greedy and selfish think about all those kids that can't go to school because them that is a damn shame i mean how much more money do the fuck ya'll want and do ya'll not understand that the economy is fucked up and yet and still ya'll want extra shit what kind of workers are ya'll i understand about the health care stuff but half of ya'll don't even go to the damn doctor seriously SEPTA needs to get over themselves for real or quit its because of them i can't even see my family on my b-bay which is today cause they so selfish dumb asses suppose your kids was catching SEPTA and then they couldn't get to school so fucking selfish

Wow. Are you for real? This was so stupid.

Good to hear. Still looking for pizza in PHL that can beat Chris Bianco's in PHX. Closest so far is Costieria at Passy and Catherine and Mark Vetri's (a friend of Chris's) at Osteria. Waited 2 1/2 hours at Bianco's PHX spot last month and it was worth every minute. Bianco's is pizza for the gods and once you get in and have it placed in front of you, you feel like a deity. Let's hope Joey has some divinity to hand out too...
