Trouble Everyday

Rock/pop

Everybody hurts sometimes, like the wretched song says. Kyle Costill of Philly's Trouble Everyday must've been wounded like a doe when he announced his asymmetrically outfitted band's retirement from playing its hometown, with a last new-wave-y prom at World Café Live. Never has a crowd of six or seven responded so despondently, what with the prom filled to the minimum with teary Duckie-alikes pogoing to "Sympathy." OK, we're teasing. It's just that we've heard so many local bands determined to leave an audience that never showed up in the first place. (I know; you're big lots of other places. Huge!) Maybe we're just pissy we missed our own prom, seeing the Plasmatics at Emerald City with a lesbian classmate. Damn, nothing worked out that night. I digress. We think TE's yelping digi-disco is cute and we're glad they're back. This one last time. Now go, and never darken my towels again.

Fri., Dec. 23, 9 p.m., $8, with Kill Hands, Persona and Bang Bang Beautiful, The Khyber, 56 S. Second St., 215-238-5888, www.thekhyber.com.
